Place of Study: Shetland College UHI, Lerwick

Mode of Study: Block release

Length of course: 10 weeks

Start Date: November 2010

Entry Requirements: Industrial Experience & SVQ 2 Carpentry & Joinery.

COURSE SUMMARY:

This programme has been designed to enable you to develop an appropriate mix of higher level vocational competence and a high level of technical job knowledge. Ideal if you are a mature applicant who wishes to undertake a short programme.

COURSE CONTENT:

Carpentry & Joinery: Specialist Doors, Complex Pitched Roofs, High Class Finishes, Windows and Screens, Workshop and Site setting Out and Timber Stairs with Tapered Steps.

HOW WILL I STUDY?

With a combination of traditional taught classes and practical demonstrations.

Teaching staff within each college section provide first-line guidance and support for each student in relation to course work. If additional support is required the college’s support for learning team is available to provide appropriate support tailored to individual student needs.
