Introduction to Counselling

COURSE INFORMATION:

Place of Study: Shetland College UHI, Lerwick

Mode of Study: Part-time

Length of course: Part-time: 4 Saturday’s ( this option is run twice a year) OR as an evening class over 7 weeks.

Start Date: Please contact the college for Saturday and evening class start dates.

COURSE SUMMARY:

The course provides a broad introduction to counselling with an overview of the 3 main approaches used in this country and offers participants the opportunity to develop basic counselling skills. It will give participants the opportunity to identify their potential to progress further on the Degree at Shetland College UHI or Certificate and Diploma courses elsewhere. This course is taught by tutors who both work professionally as counsellors.

HOW WILL I STUDY?

This is a 20 hour course which is run twice a year.

Teaching staff within each college section provide first-line guidance and support for each student in relation to course work. If additional support is required the college’s support for learning team is available to provide appropriate support tailored to individual student needs.
