Entry Requirements:
HNC: 1 appropriate Higher; NC in Business or equivalent; or relevant workplace experience
HND: 2 appropriate Highers; NC in Business or equivalent; or relevant workplace experience
COURSE SUMMARY:
The HNC/D Business programme covers a wide range of business and management concepts and provides candidates with an excellent grounding in the principles of Business and Management, including: Managing People in Organisations; Marketing; IT; Economics; Accounting and Law.
COURSE CONTENT:
HNC: 12 credit course
Management; Marketing; Economics; Information Technology; Accounting; and Communication, plus other subjects from a range of options.
HND: 30 credit course
Business Law; Business Information Management; Business Statistics; and Accounting, plus other subjects from a range of options.
BA: Business Strategy; Business Information Management Systems; a Research Project, plus other subjects from a range of options within this course.

HOW WILL I STUDY?
HNC/HND: All subjects on the programme are internally assessed on an ongoing basis, including Group Award Graded Units towards the end of the HNC and HND courses. These comprise closed book examinations incorporating many aspects of the overall programmes.
BA: The programme consists of eight modules for each year of study. Some of these modules will be delivered by Video Conference from other partner institutions within UHI. Students undertaking this programme will be assessed by coursework and an exam for each module.

PROGRESSION:
Academic: HNC provides progression to year 2 of the HND Business programme; HND Business provides progression to BA Business and Management or to a range of degree level courses throughout the UK.
Employment/Career: The HNC and HND programmes prepare participants for a career in a business environment or a related management area, in both the public and private sectors; both programmes are also excellent preparation for self-employment.
