The Core Skills Courses are nationally recognised qualifications, which employers and course entry requirements often look for.

Communication
Access 3, Intermediate 1 & 2, Higher
Improve your skills and confidence in reading, writing and talking.  Suitable for anyone wishing to develop their communication skills and achieve SQA qualification.

Alternative to Higher English
Achieve qualifications in Communication at Higher and Literature 1. Taken together these units give you the widely accepted alternative to Higher English. Entry requirement - you should have Intermediate 2, or Communication 3, or a credit pass in Standard Grade English.

Literature 1
Study poems, a novel and play and learn how toanalyse them. Demonstrate your understanding by
writing essays. Achieve SQA qualification in Literature 1. Entry requirement – you should have Intermediate 2, or Communication 3, or a credit pass in Standard Grade English.

Numeracy - Access 3, Intermediate 1 & 2
Improve your confidence and gain skills in using numbers and maths. Achieve SQA qualification in Numeracy.

Maths - Intermediate 1 and 2
Three certified units including Geometry, Statistics, Algebra and Trig. Optional final exam for a full SQA group award.
