NC Digital Media ComputingCOURSE INFORMATION:

Place of Study: Shetland College UHI, Lerwick

Mode of Study: Full time or Part time

Length of course: Full time: 1 year, Part time: 2 years

Start Date: September 2011

Entry Requirements: 4 standard grade passes at General level or above or relevant computing experience. 

COURSE SUMMARY:

This course provides useful skills and knowledge which will increase employment opportunities and set the foundations for a successful entry to higher level Computing and Information Technology courses locally and at colleges and universities elsewhere. There is also a short work experience placement planned as part of this course. This course allows progression onto our Higher National Certificate Information Technology course.

COURSE CONTENT:

A range of introductory units including: Computer Graphics, Introduction to Games Design, Web Design, Computer Hardware, Operating Systems, Office IT Applications, Animation, Numeracy, Communications and Work Experience.

PROGRESSION:

Academic: HNC Information Technology courses.

Employment/Career: Business settings, Web/Graphics Design or an IT technical support role.

Former students have: Moved on to the HNC in Information Technology at Shetland College UHI.
