PDA Computer Aided Draughting and Design
COURSE INFORMATION:
Place of Study: Shetland College UHI, Lerwick
Mode of Study: Part time, evening class
Length of course: 2 years
Start Date: August 2011
Entry Requirements: Candidates should have a good understanding of AutoCAD packages, preferably using them in a professional capacity. Students who previously completed the Introduction to CAD class will also be considered.
COURSE SUMMARY:
The content of the Professional Development Award is aimed at providing you with the opportunity to formalise a professional development qualification and/or to develop practical CAD skills relevant to this industry standard application.
COURSE CONTENT:
CAD Principles, CAD 2D (i), CAD 2D (ii), CAD 3D, CAD Visualisation, Rendering and Presentation.
HOW WILL I STUDY?
With a combination of traditional taught classes and walk-through exercises.

PROGRESSION:
Academic: Completion of the Professional Development Award will allow progression to HNC in AutoCAD. Some modules may also count towards HNC Architectural Technician. These courses can be studied at Inverness College UHI.
Employment/Career: Draughtsman Technician
Former students have: Gone on to work as draughtsperson for local building firm or own business
