Introduction to Counselling

COURSE INFORMATION:

Place of Study: Shetland College UHI, Lerwick.  This course is also run at Brae High School - contact Shetland College UHI for details.

Mode of Study: Part time/evening class

Length of course:

Part time: Four Saturdays ( this option is run twice a year)

Evening class: Over seven weeks

Start Date: Contact Shetland College UHI for Saturday and evening class start dates

Entry Requirements: None

COURSE SUMMARY:

The course provides a broad introduction to counselling with an overview of the three main approaches used in this country and offers participants the opportunity to develop basic counselling skills. It will give participants the opportunity to identify their potential to progress further on the Degree at Shetland College UHI or Certificate and Diploma courses elsewhere. This course is taught by tutors who work professionally as counsellors.

COURSE CONTENT:

A chance to develop your listening skills, learn some counselling theory and become more self aware and confident in your ways of helping people.

This is a 20 hour course, which is run twice a year.
