COURSE INFORMATION:

Place of Study: Shetland College UHI, Lerwick

Course time: Alternate Fridays over 2 years (18 sessions year one, 12 sessions year two)

For: S3/S4 pupils

COURSE SUMMARY:

The emphasis of this course is to help pupils begin to prepare for working in the early education and childcare sector and to develop employability skills.

COURSE CONTENT:

Intermediate 1: Child Development, Play in Early Education and Childcare, Working in Early Education and Childcare, Parenting, Care of children and Maintenance of a Safe Environment.

Also some units at Intermediate 2: Child Development and Health, Play in Early Education and Working in Early Education and Childcare, Parenting, Care and Feeding of Children and First Aid.

PROGRESSION:

Full-time Introduction to Care, full-time National Certificate in Early Education and Childcare, SVQ training/employment.
