Length of course: 1 year (Tuesdays 6.00pm – 9.00pm)

COURSE SUMMARY:

Aimed at all levels, this course gives a broad overview of sociology. Key theorists and theories will be discussed including Marxism, Feminism and Functionalism

COURSE CONTENT:

An introduction to the key ideas & theories that underpin sociological thinking. Looking at concepts of society and how humans form & react to their environment.

HOW WILL I STUDY?

With short lectures, group discussions, individual exercises and personal study. Course units are achieved through internal written assessments and 1 external examination. A research portfolio is also to be submitted at the end of the course.

Academic: Higher Sociology
Employment/Career: Course is a useful stepping stone towards a career related to Sociology, following higher education.
