Renewable Energy Systems

This course has been designed to give HND level candidates an in-depth understanding of the science and engineering behind a wide range of energy extraction systems. A lecturer from Shetland college will undertake a PDA at Lews Castle College, which will then put Shetland College in a position to provide mentoring support to students in Shetland undertaking this course.

Modules include overview of energy use, technology, hydrogen, wind power, biomass, geothermal, hydro-electricity, microgeneration, solar and tidal energy. The course will allow candidates the opportunity to specialise in two areas of renewable energy.
