Design students on the BA in Contemporary Textiles flew to Florence in January 2011 to learn about the latest in developments in yarns by the world's leading manufacturers and innovators at the Pitti Filati Trade Fair. Alongside the knitwear, fancy yarns and precious fibres, students saw agents’ portfolios of new textile designs and visited Senso, a trend prediction area with scaled outfits of trends in yarns, fabrics and styling for summer 2012.

Bridges students on the 'Skills For Work' Half Brick Walling course put their skills to the test by constructing four brick arches capable of supporting a 2.5 tonne vehicle.

Our graduation ceremony took place on Friday 1 October 2010 at Clickimin Leisure Complex, Lerwick. Students celebrated their academic achievements with family, friends and staff from Shetland College UHI.

As part of Shetland Wool Week, local schools particpated in the 'Future of Wool' Art competition. Here are the winning entries. All entries were on display in the Textile corridor of Shetland College to the public during Shetland Wool Week Monday 10th October – Friday 15th October 9-4 and Saturday 16th October 10 -3.

Our HE graduation ceremonies took place on Friday 30th September at Lerwick Town Hall, where our students had the opportunity to celebrate their fantastic academic achievements, with family, friends and staff from Shetland College UHI.
