Ness Learning Centre

by Sue last modified 2010-11-11 13:23

The Ness Learning Centre was an idea that came from Ness 2000 Consultation, due to an anticipated downturn of activity at the airport. Ness 2000 recruited volunteers to hold computer classes with equipment donated by the SIC. These classes were initially held at the airport. It was moved to the Dunrossness Central Public Hall (better known as the Boddam Hall) to give better access to members of the public, and has grown from there. We have come from these humble beginnings to a dedicated fully functional computer suite with a video conferencing unit. This is has been achieved in partnership with Shetland College and UHI. We can deliver classes in most locations and have developed good partnership working with Overtonlea Day Care Centre, Dunrossess Primary School where we deliver Family Learning and more recently Sandwick Junior High School.
