Shetland's main town Lerwick has the largest selection of shops with a large Tesco, Scottish Co-op, as well as local fish mongers, butchers, delicatessen, health food shops, beauticians, hairdressers, bookshops, music, arts and crafts supply shops, clothes shops, charity shops and much more.
There are also a large number of local businesses such as the Shetland Soap company, Jamieson & Smith woolbrokers, PhatSheep photography in the North Rock Gallery, Shetland Fudge company, Burra Bears and Valhalla Brewery who all have retail outlets in the town centre: including some previous Shetland College textiles students: Ninian, Andrea Williamson's textiles, Tin Shed Textiles, Shona Anderson, Neilanell, Carol Wishart and Aamos designs.
