Biography

Maria is the managing director at Mesomorphic, a software development company based in Lerwick. The company was founded in 2015 by Barnaby Mercer and over the past 5 years they have been building a company that is not only known for their software development but also for their passion for digital education, putting Shetland on the map for its digital economy and innovation. Their model, called Silicon Croft, engages students and educators from primary school all the way through to higher and further education. They work with national and local stakeholders to share resources and highlight the various pathways into the digital careers available on Shetland.
