Biography

Sue left school at 15 with 2 ‘O’ levels and moved to Shetland in 1974. She worked at a knitwear factory, a slaughterhouse, a builders' merchants and a salmon farm and furthered her education through night classes and the then Lerwick FE Centre. She then gained a BA (Hons) in Mathematics, an MSc in Information Analysis and a PGDip in Local Economic Development at Aberdeen University, RGU and Glasgow University respectively. On retirement from working in the public and then the third sector she embarked on a National Certificate in Art and Design and is now studying Fine Art at Shetland UHI. She is passionate about life long learning and has represented her fellow students in many roles, as well as serving on committees at local, county and national level.
