North Isles learning centres


The North Isles Learning centre is based at Baltasound Junior High School two days a week, Tuesdays and Fridays, and at Mid Yell Junior High School one day a week on Wednesdays.

  • To increase the accessibility of learning to all areas in the North Isles
  • To promote the use of Information Technology
  • To increase the opportunities for learners to improve their core skill areas of literacy, numeracy and computing
  • To offer greater opportunities for on-lin, open and distance learning
  • To assist the community in developing a sustainable future

Progression routes

Students attending Computing for Beginners classes can progress onto the Intermediate Computing class and the ECDL qualification.

Other opportunities exist for students who have gained communication and numeracy core skills to progress onto Further and Higher education.
