English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

If you're looking for English language classes, the friendly staff at Shetland College UHI can help you develop your skills.

Shetland College offers a wide range of ESOL certificated courses which help develop speaking, writing, listening and reading skills in English. This year we are offering two new courses: Writing for Employability and Living in Scotland. Living in Scotland will be of particular interest to students hoping to apply for Citizenship and for those preparing for the Life in the UK test. At Shetland College, you can continue to learn when you are not in class by using Blackboard, an on-line learning system where you can blog, join discussions and get on-line feedback from your teachers.

For more information see the ESOL courses page, or download a course outline:

If you complete Intermediate 1, you may be able to apply for UK Citizenship. For detailed information about applying for citizenship please visit the Borders Agency website.

Activities

ESOL students from Shetland College participated in the Anderson High School "Activities' Day." The students shared some traditional recipes from their home countries, which the school pupils tried out for themselves.
