English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

What is special about this course?

Students will develop skills in reading, speaking, listening and writing to a high level and will develop confidence in interacting with others in a variety of contexts.

Entry requirements

Students will take an ESOL level test to determine the appropriate level of course for them.

The courses consist of 2-3 compulsory units (Work / Study related and Everyday Life) with ongoing internal assessments.

For National 5 and Higher-level courses there is an external exam which tests students’ listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills.

    What can I do on completion of my course?

    Academic: You can progress onto Higher level ESOL courses and to a range of further and higher education (including degree) courses.

    Employment / Career: This course opens up a range of opportunities to study other college or university courses or help you find a better job.

    Former students have: Moved on to study at a higher level, and obtained more relevant employment.
