Space 102 Shetland’s Annual Space Conference
UHI Shetland, in partnership with Saxavord UK Spaceport, are hosting Shetland ‘Space 102 Day’ on Saturday 04 February at the Scalloway Campus, Port Arthur. Shetland Space 102 Day is an opportunity for people across Shetland, and beyond, to learn more about space and what it means for the Shetland community. This event will have a specific focus on women working in the sector and their experiences.

10am: Space Bookbug hosted by Shetland Library followed by kids play in space activities. We will have two space explorer rooms, one for peerie explorers and one for muckle space explorers. These rooms will host various activities including computer coding from the team at Mesomorphic, have a shot on our VR headset plus have a chance to drive a boat around the harbour virtually with our in house simulator in Scalloway!
11am - 12pm: Saxavord & Women In STEM talk
12pm - 1pm: Space+ talk with metaverse demo, discussions on space programme development & astronaut training
2pm: Industry Session including metaverse demo (1 hour)
1.45pm - 3.15pm: Astronaut Panel with Sydney Hamilton and Joan Melendez-Misner of NASA & Boeing followed by Q&A
3.15pm - 4.15pm: Dr Hina Khan, Executive Director of Space Scotland, will deliver the keynote speech in person about the journey to space
