Shetland UHI has a vacancy for a Permanent Full-Time Lecturer within the Nautical team.

This role will require the successful candidate to plan for and deliver a variety of courses within the Nautical Section. This will include both theory and practical elements, including use of small boats, simulator facilities, and practical seamanship.

Applicants must possess a minimum of a UK Certificate of Competency Chief Mate Unlimited (II/2), or equivalent.

The duties of this position include preparation, teaching and assessing students on approved courses, teaching can be both remote and in-person. Lecturers are also expected to be involved in the development, promotion and marketing of new and existing courses, and the recruitment of students.

This position requires a successful PVG (Children) application.

The salary for this role is in line with the national pay scales currently ranging between £34,170 and £42,357 plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2397 per annum. Salary point placement will be dependent on experience and qualification levels of the successful candidate.
