Working at campus

Our Gremista main campus may be smaller by comparison to many mainland-based colleges but, for all that, we are more than adequately resourced.

Being small in size means the staff team is almost like a mini community and everyone works together and supports each other.

Our size and relatively flat structure also means that staff have very close links with the senior management team, with frequent meetings and an informal open door policy.

Located on the sea front, you can enjoy stunning summer views on a flat calm day or, in the middle of winter, be charmed by the force of the ocean and strong winds.  Shetland is a place of contrasts; rich in inspiration and rooted deep in a culture that is definitely worth exploring; yet geared up to fit perfectly into the 21st century.  This beauty and uniqueness will add a new dimension to your learning experience.

Our staff are certainly inspirational and this is embedded in their teaching.  Many of our courses make use of the latest video conferencing technology, and some involve local business in real life projects.

On-site facilities include Briggistanes cafe and social area, hospitality training kitchen, construction workshop, textile facilitation unit, and library and information centre.

We are also committed to community learning and, to this end, have staff based in a number of learning centres throughout Shetland, where you can study a range of part-time classes from beginner right through to degree level.
