“The Equalities Committee remit is to be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the College’s Equality General and Specific Duties and Framework across all aspects of college provision in accordance with College’s quality procedures and policies. Its role is one of constant evaluation, continuous improvement and active promotion of equality opportunities and diversity; sharing good practice with regard to Equality & Diversity, in light of the Equality Act 2010.
The Equality Committee is chaired by the Operations Manager and feeds into the College’s Academic Board. There is representation from both the academic and support sections of the college. As we are a part of Shetland Islands Council we are obliged to report and publish our progress with regard to the General and Specific Duties under their Equality Framework directives.”
