Mental Health Support

Last weekend saw World Mental Health Day 2021, a good time to take stock, particularly as we begin to pick up and reconnect with our pre pandemic life. For many of us there have been huge changes and for some of us loss. It is worth remembering that with every loss comes a new beginning.

The theme of World Mental Health Day this year is ‘mental health in an unequal world’.  While it may be obvious that some societies have better provision for mental health care, inequality can take many forms, and may be hidden. That’s why we pledge to recognise certain groups like care experienced, carers and veterans.

Togetharall our online student support service is available 24/7 and we now have a new online service Spectrum Life which provides 24/7 phone support and online resources, including a great discount scheme to help you to save money.

At Shetland UHI we are working to connect with you to provide access and provision for all student needs.  We are now offering the following Drop-in times during term time:

  • Lerwick Campus Tuesdays 10am-11am
  • Mareel Wednesdays 12.30pm-1.30pm
  • Scalloway Campus Fridays 10am-11am

Can’t make one of our drop ins? Contact us to arrange a meeting via guidance.shetland@uhi.ac.uk or find out more about student support
