Social Services (Children & Young People) (SQCF Level 6) NPA

What is special about this course?

The NPA in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 6 introduces learners to knowledge and skills that are important in the Early Education and Childcare and Playwork sector.
The aim of the NPA Social Services (Children and Young People) is to assist knowledge and skills for working with children and young people and to develop the confidence and transferable skills to promote career progression.
 

Entry requirements

•    3 relevant qualifications at SCQF level 5 or equivalent  
•    Alternative entry requirements will be considered
 

This qualification covers areas such as play for children and young people, the safeguarding of children and young people, communicating with children and young people, development of children and young people, promoting the wellbeing and safety of children and young people. 

How will I study my course?

    You will study through short lectures, group discussions, reflection on practice and individual study. This will be delivered face to face in a classroom setting. 

    How long will my course last?

    1 Year

    Day release = 1 academic year  
    College Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from September to June.  
     

    How will I be assessed?

      There are a variety of assessment methods used within this qualification. There will be written assessments, short tests, presentations and discussion.

      What can I do on completion of my course?

      Working in nursery and early years settings. Can lead on to SVQ 2 and 3 in Social Services (Children & Young People)
      NQ Childhood Practice; HNC Childhood Practice.
