Festival of Decay

The Centre for Island Creativity is delighted to share the news that Clarissa Tam, a student on the MA Art and Social Practice has been awarded a major grant from the Hong Kong government to curate and realise the exhibition Festival of Decay.

The Festival of Decay will include artists Clara Wong, Ng Yuen Mei, Vanessa Choi, Cha Ming and Monique Yim who will present a range of work that embraces soundscape, community engagement, performance, installation, ikebana and work that includes taste and scent. Audiences will have opportunity to experience ‘decay’ in many forms, in its rawest and most vulnerable form, as changing form through time in the physical world, with plants in sorrow and celebration.

The exhibition will take place in the Pao Galleries at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, one of the well-known exhibition spaces in Hong Kong. Established more than four decades ago, the Hong Kong Arts Centre brings art to the people of Hong Kong by presenting programmes for visual arts, performing arts, moving images, media arts, comics and animation in addition to public art and community projects.
