New Chair of the Board of Management of UHI Shetland
UHI Shetland’s Board of Management are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Stephen Leask as the new Chair of the Board of Management.
Mr. Leask brings a wealth of experience to the role, as he is currently an independent councillor for Lerwick North and Bressay at the Shetland Islands Council, as well as having had a successful career as Regional Manager, and Advisor and Consultant at Harbro.
Commenting on the appointment Mr. Leask said “I am delighted to take on the role of Chair of the UHI Shetland Board of Management. I look forward to working in close collaboration with staff, students, and our wider community guided by the UHI Shetland principles of openness, respect, and excellence. Leadership, at every level, is about turning vision into reality. Together, through effort, efficiency, and effectiveness, we will continue to build a college that meets Shetland’s training and industry needs at the heart of our community.”
Interim Chair of the Board of Management, Dr Mason Robbins added “It’s been a privilege to serve as Interim Chair, and I couldn’t be more pleased to pass the baton to Stephen. He brings not only valuable experience but a genuine passion for Shetland and its future. With Stephen’s leadership, I believe UHI Shetland is well positioned to strengthen its role in the community, support our students and staff, and grow as a centre of learning and innovation for the islands and beyond.”
