Tasmanian Seaweed Experience
NAFC had a visit last week from Dr Craig Sanderson, a seaweed researcher of long standing, formerly of the University of Tasmania.
Dr Sanderson runs a seaweed business in Tasmania (www.oceantreasure.com.au) and currently holds a MASTS visiting fellowship at SAMS, Oban.
Following a tour of the NAFC facilities, Dr Sanderson had knowledge exchange discussions with NAFC staff working on the Seaweed Cultivation - Coastal Communities Fund project, and with former Böd Ayre owners Margaret and Michael Blance.
Before leaving, Dr Sanderson delivered a very interesting presentation; 'A Tasmanian Seaweed Based Business: Thirty years in the making' to a mixed audience of marine science researchers and commercial stakeholders.
