Accompanied by Craig Burton, a Regional Manager with Seafish Scotland, Dr Gilmore is making her first visit to Shetland to learn more about the islands' seafood industries. She was given a tour of the Centre and briefed on the range of activities carried out here, and by SSQC.

Seafish Northern Ireland provides a point of contact for Seafish within Northern Ireland and assists the Northern Irish seafood industry in accessing technical and other expertise from the whole of Seafish. Dr Gilmore, formerly of Queen's University Belfast, has managed Seafish Northern Ireland for the last seven years, working closely with the Northern Irish seafood industry and ensuring the local coordination of Seafish activities.

During her visit to Shetland Dr Gilmore will be meeting with local seafood industry representatives, both to learn more about the local seafood industries, and to share her knowledge and experience of working with  Seafish in Northern Ireland. She will also be visiting the Lerwick fish market and a mussel processor, and hopes to have lunch at Frankie's Fish & Chips in Brae.
