Shetland to the Stars brings the crowds
UHI Shetland, in collaboration with Dynamic Earth, enjoyed an out-of-this-world jam-packed activity day "Shetland to the Stars Free Family Fun Day" held on Saturday 8 November 2025 at the UHI Shetland Scalloway Campus.
This is the second time that UHI Shetland has run the popular Shetland to the Stars event, which is designed to engage and entertain families in all things space and science. The day itself saw an overwhelming response, with almost 200 enthusiastic participants joining the festivities.
From captivating hands-on activities to awe-inspiring exhibits, the event showcased the wonders of science and astronomy in an accessible and engaging manner. Families from all over Shetland flocked to Scalloway, turning the day into a memorable celebration of education, exploration, and community spirit.
The focus for many was the were the sold-out inflatable planetarium shows which gave people a trip through space, courtesy of Dynamic Earth, who returned to explore the cosmos with UHI Shetland.
Dr. Alastair Bruce, Planetarium Manager from Dynamic Earth, said “After the success of last year’s ‘Shetland to the Stars’ family day we are thrilled to be returning to Shetland! Dynamic Earth is committed to a positive future for us and our planet, and through our national outreach programme, we aim to reach rural and remote communities across Scotland”.
