Once you contact us, we will invite you in for a chat about how a Modern Apprenticeship could work for you. If you wish, you can ask someone else to accompany you to your appointment.

We will advise you about how you might apply for apprenticeship positions and steps you can take to improve your chances of success. For further advice on applying for apprenticeship positions, please contact Skills Development Scotland Shetland Skills Development Scotland We will inform you of apprenticeship opportunities that we are aware of in your area of interest.

We would also encourage you to contact local employers directly as they will be able to advise you of current opportunities. You will be directed to apply directly to the companies which may involve sending your Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter or applying online.

The employer will decide who they want to appoint, usually by interview, and if you are selected, they will inform us. We will then arrange to meet with you and your employer and conduct an induction onto the apprenticeship programme.

Trial periods are increasingly popular for employers and potential apprentices so you can ask employers about this directly before committing to the apprenticeship.

If you are already working and your employer would support you undertaking a vocational qualification, you may be able to get apprenticeship funding.

Please contact us using any of the above methods if you need any further information.
