Ready to share your social care expertise and help shape the next generation of care professionals?

If you’ve built up strong experience in social care — especially in a senior or supervisory role — and enjoy guiding others to grow, this could be a great fit.

UHI Shetland is recruiting Casual SVQ Assessors to support learners working towards SVQs in Health and Social Care in their workplaces across Shetland.

Why this role might suit you:

  • Flexible, as-required hours that fit around your current role
  • A chance to use your experience in a new, rewarding way
  • Supportive and experienced SVQ team
  • Work across Lerwick Campus and Shetland-wide care settings
  • Make a real impact on the future care workforce in Shetland

What you’ll be doing:

  • Observing practice in the workplace
  • Assessing portfolios and evidence
  • Mentoring and encouraging learners

You’ll need:

  • SVQ Level 4 in Care (or equivalent qualification at SCQF9 or above)
  • Solid experience in social care (senior or supervisory experience highly valued)
  • Confidence communicating and giving feedback
  • Driving licence and access to a car

Assessor qualifications are welcome but not essential. This role would be ideal for experienced practitioners who want to step into a developmental, mentoring-focused role.
