Biography

Simon trained originally as an archaeological scientist at the University of Bradford before completing a PhD in settlement archaeology in the early 1990s. Before joining Shetland College as a lecturer in archaeology and heritage management in 1998, he worked in commercial archaeology and as a part time lecturer at the Extramural departments of Leeds and Bradford Universities.

Simon has been a leading practitioner of learning and teaching by videoconferencing, most of his own teaching being on networked UHI degrees. Since 2014 he has also led the Creative and Cultural Industries section, with responsibility for music and the visual arts as well as the humanities.
